A paper co-written by Ming Ma, a postdoc of the chair funded by the cluster of excellence 'Contestations of the Liberal Script', and Alexander Libman, jointly with Genia Kostka (FU Berlin) and Daniil Romanov (Oxford) was just accepted by Perspectives on Politics. The article entitled "Mirrors and Mosaics: Decyphering Russian and Chinese Domestic Bloc-Building Narratives" investigates the differences between Russian and Chinese bloc-building narratives and the way they affect domestic legitimacy of cooperation between authoritarian countries. The article employs text-as-data methods and is based on scruitny of Chinese and Russian official communication for the first year after Russia's full-scale invasion against Ukraine.
