Since 2003, the Institute for East European Studies at Freie Universität Berlin has been offering a four-semester MA (Master of Arts) programme in East European Studies. The programme was re-accredited in October 2023 with revised study and examination regulations.

Our interdisciplinary MA programme integrates academic and applied modules (with an internship option) as well as language acquisition. It culminates in a Master’s thesis.
