FU trip to Uzbekistan: success for both sides

From December 11th to 16th, 2022, a delegation from Freie Universität Berlin consisting of Theocharis Grigoriadis und Robert Kindler (OEI), Tobias Stüdemann (Head of FU Liaison Office Eastern Europe), and Piotr Larysz (Economics) visited the universities in Tashkent and Samarkand.
The goal of the trip was to initiate academic cooperation and to explore mobility opportunities for students. The negotiations were successful. Now the representatives of the universities will work out the conditions for future cooperation agreements.
The FU delegation first met with representatives of the National University of Uzbekistan (see photo on the right). Afterwards, the members of the delegation visited Samarkand State University.
Theoachris Grigoriadis and Piotr Larysz (Economics) visited the Faculty of Human Resource Management of Samarkand State University. They were welcomed by Mukhtar Nasirov, Head of the Department of International Cooperation of Samarkand State University. They agreed to establish programs and summer schools for research and exchange of professors and staff.
In addition, lectures on "The History of Uzbekistan through the Eyes of German Historians" were held at the History Department of Samarkand State University as part of the "German University Week." They included lectures by Robert Kindler and Tobias Stüdemann (Head of the FU Liaison Office Eastern Europe).
