The Institute for East European Studies (OEI) of Freie Universität Berlin has intensified its cooperation with partners in Uzbekistan. During the visit of delegations from the National University of Uzbekistan in Tashkent and the Samarkan State Institute of Foreign Languages, the OEI and its partners agreed on scientific cooperation and student exchange.

On April 20, 2023, the visit of the delegation from Tashkent took place at the FU Presidium and on April 24, 2023, the visit of the delegation from Samarkand was held at the OEI. Both meetings were accompanied by Theocharis Grigoriadis and Robert Kindler from the OEI.

For the OEI, Central Asia, especially Uzbekistan, is of central importance for research and teaching. The cooperation between the FU and Uzbekistan is an important step for further cooperation. The OEI hopes to strengthen its relations with Uzbekistan through this cooperation and looks forward to new scientific insights and exchange opportunities in the future.
