The German Association for East European Studies (DGO) promotes a forward-looking engagement with Eastern Europe. Expertise on the region is not only in demand during times of war and crisis, but it will also be the responsibility of younger generations to further develop and integrate Eastern Europe expertise. The dynamic reality and developments that have affected this region in recent years have created a challenging and exciting dynamic that future experts will discuss intensively.
The ZUKUNFT Osteuropa event, organized this year for the seventh time by the Young DGO, aims to explore career entry paths. At the same time, it seeks to raise awareness of the numerous present-day and historically rooted challenges associated with the region and to create an open space for discussion:
- What paths can I take to start a career as an Eastern Europe expert?
- What future and career prospects do I have if I focus on Eastern Europe?
- How can I orient myself within the professional field?
- How does the political situation influence my opportunities in this field and my own decisions?
You are cordially invited to discuss these questions on January 10, 2025, in Bochum and to exchange ideas with experienced experts.
The key part of the program will consist of interactive workshops with selected speakers. There will be three blocks of workshops on different topics and various professional fields.
To plan the program according to your needs and preferences, we rely on the information provided in the application form. We will do our best to accommodate them.
All interested students, trainees, career starters, job seekers, or undecided individuals under 35 are invited. We aim to expand our network, so non-DGO members are also warmly welcome.
Since the focus of the event is on the labor market in the Federal Republic of Germany, most of the program will be conducted in German. However, we are committed to making the event accessible to non-German speakers and will offer some workshops in English. Please indicate in your application if you would prefer your desired workshop to be held in English.
Travel costs will be reimbursed by DGO up to 50%, with a maximum of €60. For participants from NRW with a semester ticket, no travel expenses can be covered.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the organization team Elene Koreli, Walter Julius Hochheim and Alexandra Zwierzynski at: zukunftosteuropa@dgo-online.org
