The Richard Löwenthal Lectures are a public lecture series at the Institute for East European Studies that once a year invites well-known scientists doing research on Eastern Europe and the post soviet space. Richard Löwenthal (1908-1991) was a political scientist and professor at Freie Universität Berlin from 1961 to 1974. After his return from exile, the socialist, engaged in resistance against the Nazi regime, researched totalitarism, NS and political developments in Eastern Europe.
