Germany in South Caucasus: Institutions & Development (DESK)
Germany in South Caucasus: Institutions & Development (Deutschland in Südkaukasus: Institutionen & Entwicklung: DESK) is a one-year (+ internship) study programme designed to promote academic and personal exchange between Germany and Georgia in a social science context.
The DESK programme starts every year in the autumn/winter semester. The languages of instruction are German (primary) and English (secondary). Students of all TSU faculties (BA, preferably in their second and third year; MA, preferably in their first year) are invited to apply for DESK. Graduates will receive a certificate from both the Institute for East European Studies at the Free University of Berlin and the Tbilisi State University, Georgia.
What Does DESK Have to Offer?
a) Seminars and exercises in the social sciences with a focus on Germany (study programme);
b) practical experience in a German(-speaking) organisation or company in any country of the world (internship).
The course also helps develop regional expertise in Germany and a sound knowledge of German, strengthen the grasp on economic and social science methods and theories, and promote intercultural competence.
The People behind (the) DESK
Germany in the South Caucasus: Institutions & Development (DESK) is jointly organised by the Institute for East European Studies at the Free University of Berlin and the Tbilisi State University. The programme is headed by Theocharis Grigoriadis and supported by the DESK team in Berlin and Tbilisi.
