International
Since 2007, Freie Universität Berlin has belonged to the small circle of German universities that were successful in the competition of the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments. Freie Universität was honored, among other things, for its institutional strategy as an international network university and its strategic focus on international exchange.
The Institute for Eastern European Studies also takes this model into account. By focusing on the region of Eastern Europe and its international implications, the Institute's students are able to deal with an international and globalized world from the very first day of their stay.
These competencies can be further developed through personal experience abroad. Students on the Master's programme are recommended to spend a longer period of time abroad during their studies in order to strengthen their intercultural skills and to grow beyond their own horizons.
In this context, the Institute offers several possibilities to realize a study stay abroad. On the one hand, this is done through partner universities within the framework of the ERASMUS+ programme. The OEI also maintains direct exchange programmes with other universities abroad.
Finally, there is still the opportunity to gain experience abroad through an internship. Further information is available at the OEI Praktikumsbörse (in German).
